CZ memoir accuses OKX’s Star Xu of forged contract

In a recent memoir, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao accuses OKX founder Star Xu of presenting a forged contract and revisits the arrest of a Huobi founder. The accounts reopen a dispute among the three major cryptocurrency exchanges.

Zhao recounts an episode in which he says an agreement involving OKX was misrepresented to Binance through a falsified document tied to a specific business interaction between the firms.

He also recounts the arrest of a founder associated with Huobi, describing the incident as an example of legal and regulatory risks facing exchange leaders.

The allegations focus on dealings among Binance, OKX and Huobi (HTX exchange) during a period when the platforms were expanding quickly and competing for staff and customers after China tightened rules on crypto trading and mining.

The memoir does not include new legal filings. It has renewed public attention on past interactions among the exchanges and on boardroom and legal disputes from the sector’s early years.

Zhao characterizes the contract as “forged” in the book and links the Huobi founder’s arrest to the regulatory pressures that affected executives at major exchanges.

Past disagreements among exchange leaders have at times produced legal statements and public rebuttals. The memoir provides a first-person account; other parties have not responded within the text.
