Circle Unveils Gateway for Real-Time USDC Access Across Chains

Circle introduces Gateway, a developer tool that provides a single, real-time USDC balance across blockchains and eliminates manual bridge and prefund hassles.

Circle Gateway, expected to launch in July 2025, is a non-custodial developer service that consolidates USDC balances across multiple blockchains into a single real-time ledger. Unlike traditional bridges requiring prefunding and manual rebalancing, it will use a coordinating smart contract layer to burn and mint tokens under the hood, enabling near-instant settlement across chains.

Under this non-custodial model, users retain control of their assets throughout the process. Gateway will initially support Avalanche, Base, and Ethereum testnets. However, Circle plans further enhancements, including support for mainnet and additional blockchains and enterprise tooling for just-in-time liquidity management.

Gateway makes it possible to build experiences where access to USDC is truly instant, universal, and chain-agnostic, while users retain full ownership and control of their assets,

Circle's press release reads.

The service aims to improve capital efficiency and user experience for wallets, exchanges and payment providers by abstracting away multichain USDC fragmentation. Businesses can eliminate the operational overhead of pre-positioning liquidity on multiple networks, while end users may benefit from one-click, network-agnostic transfers.

Circle Gateway builds on prior products, including the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) and Mint API, to offer a chain-abstracted layer for transfers. Historically, users moving USDC between networks relied on bridges or third-party liquidity providers, introducing delays, costs and counterparty risk.

The launch of Gateway follows Circle’s $1.1 billion IPO on the NYSE in June 2025 under the ticker symbol “CRCL.” This initiative aligns with industry efforts to simplify cross-chain interoperability and may drive broader integration among wallets, DeFi protocols and enterprise platforms.

Gateway will initially support Avalanche, Base, and Ethereum testnets, with mainnet and additional networks planned later this year. The service includes standardized on-chain events for observability and programmable hooks for liquidity management.
