Malaysia retail tech event ASEAN SHOP returns in September 2026

The Malaysia edition of ASEAN SHOP Expo is scheduled for September 10-12, 2026 at MITEC Pavilion in Kuala Lumpur. The touring exhibition connects retail equipment suppliers with buyers across Southeast Asia, covering vending technology, cold chain systems, and store infrastructure across six product categories.
The 2026 edition of ASEAN SHOP arrives as Malaysia positions itself as a regional testing ground for retail infrastructure and automation technologies. The event occupies 30,000 square meters and targets 350 exhibitors with an expected 30,000 trade visitors.
The exhibition timing coincides with growth in Malaysia's retail sector. Projections cited by event organizers suggest Malaysia’s retail sector could expand from $89.7 billion in 2024 to $119.6 billion by 2029, a compound annual growth rate of 5.9% that exceeds most neighboring markets in the region.

ASEAN SHOP is positioned as a business-to-business exhibition, connecting manufacturers and distributors of retail infrastructure with buyers across ASEAN member states. The exhibition is divided into six sectors: self-service and vending technology, payment and transaction systems, commercial refrigeration, food service supplies, retail management software, and store design services.
Exhibitor categories include manufacturers of vending machines and accessories, providers of payment processing systems and point-of-sale hardware, suppliers of refrigerated display equipment for convenience stores and supermarkets, and developers of retail management and inventory software.
The visitor profile includes retail chain operators, wholesale and distribution companies, import-export firms serving the retail sector, owners of grocery stores and convenience outlets, and food service operators including cafes and quick-service restaurants.
A concurrent conference program, marketed as the ASEAN Retail Leaders Summit, will run parallel to the exhibition floor. Specific session topics and speakers have not been announced.
The exhibition represents the annual cycle of ASEAN SHOP, which rotates through major Southeast Asian markets. Previous editions have taken place in other ASEAN capitals, though the organizers have not disclosed the complete rotation schedule.
