WhiteBIT secures brokerage license for derivatives in Georgia

WhiteBIT secured a Georgian brokerage license authorizing regulated crypto derivatives trading for customers in Georgia, subject to local AML and KYC rules.

WhiteBIT has been granted a brokerage license by Georgian authorities that authorizes the exchange to offer regulated crypto derivatives trading to customers in Georgia.

The license allows WhiteBIT to operate as a brokerage for derivative contracts tied to digital assets on Georgian territory. Trading will be available to clients who meet local regulatory and compliance requirements.

Under the permit, WhiteBIT's derivatives business is subject to Georgian rules on market conduct, reporting and customer protections. The company must comply with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer requirements when onboarding and serving Georgian clients for derivatives trading.

The license includes obligations for transaction reporting, client verification and measures to detect and prevent illicit finance. Licensed brokerages are typically required to provide cooperation with supervision and audits and to meet regulatory standards intended to support market integrity.

Crypto derivatives are contracts whose value is tied to an underlying digital asset. They can offer traders exposure with leverage or a way to hedge positions. Bringing derivatives into a regulated framework gives authorities the ability to set limits, require disclosures and apply safeguards aimed at protecting investors and monitoring systemic risk.

Georgia has been clarifying how crypto businesses operate within its legal system. Granting brokerage licenses for derivatives creates a domestic, regulated pathway for residents to access these products rather than using unlicensed or offshore platforms.

The license permits WhiteBIT to expand its product offering in Georgia while operating under Georgian oversight and the country’s regulatory requirements.
