Tether Moves $70M+ in Bitcoin to Reserve Wallet, Arkham

Arkham reported Tether transferred more than $70 million in bitcoin into a wallet labeled as a reserve, based on on-chain transaction data.

Blockchain analytics firm Arkham reported a transfer of more than $70 million worth of bitcoin into a wallet labeled as a reserve. The transaction was recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain and flagged by Arkham's on-chain tracking tools.

Arkham identified the destination address as a Tether reserve wallet and traced the sending address to activity its platform associates with Tether. The $70 million-plus value was calculated at the time of the transaction. Arkham published the transaction details in its database of labeled wallets and transfers.

Tether issues the USDT stablecoin and maintains reserve wallets that hold assets intended to back the tokens it issues. The company periodically discloses information about the composition of its reserves and has faced regulatory scrutiny over reserve reporting in the past.

Arkham did not provide a reason for the transfer. The Bitcoin ledger is public, allowing third-party analysts to trace the flow of funds and assign context to addresses and transactions.

On-chain analytics firms monitor labeled wallets and high-value transfers to map large holders and institutional activity on blockchains. The transfer flagged by Arkham adds to the public record of how entities that issue stablecoins move and store assets that support their tokens.
