PayPal, Canva let creators sell from designs

PayPal and Canva integrated payments so creators can add PayPal checkout to Canva designs and let customers pay without leaving the platform.
PayPal and Canva announced this week that creators can accept PayPal payments directly within Canva designs, allowing customers to complete purchases without leaving the Canva platform.
The integration connects PayPal’s checkout with Canva’s design and publishing tools. Creators can attach a payment button or link to templates, social posts, digital downloads and printed items created in Canva. When a buyer clicks a linked design or published file, they are routed to PayPal to authorize and complete the payment.
The feature is rolling out to users in selected markets immediately, with a wider global release planned over the coming months. Availability will vary by account type and region, and not all features will be available at launch in every market.
To use the feature, a creator links a PayPal account to their Canva profile and adds a payment link or buy button to a design. Payments, order records and settlements are processed through PayPal and appear in the seller’s PayPal account, subject to PayPal’s merchant terms and fee schedule.
Canva said the integration supports sales of digital goods such as templates and downloads and physical items produced through Canva’s print services. The companies noted the setup can be used for single-item sales, limited-run products and small storefront-style offerings embedded in published designs.
Under the arrangement, PayPal handles payment authorization, processing and settlement while Canva provides the interface where customers encounter items for sale. Creators must have an active PayPal account and comply with PayPal’s merchant policies to receive funds.
The companies plan to add more commerce features over time, including expanded order management tools, support for additional payment methods and further integrations with Canva’s product and print fulfillment services as the rollout continues.
Canva began as a graphic design platform and has been adding features to help users publish and monetize their work. PayPal provides payment infrastructure and merchant services used by a range of sellers and platforms; the integration combines Canva’s distribution of design assets with PayPal’s payment processing to enable direct transactions between buyers and creators.
