Kroger debuts private-label cola exclusive to its stores
Kroger introduced a private-label cola sold only in its U.S. stores and online to offer an alternative to national-brand colas.
Kroger introduced a private-label cola this month that will be sold exclusively in its U.S. supermarkets and through its pickup and home-delivery services. The product carries Kroger’s private-label branding and will not be sold outside Kroger-owned banners.
The cola is part of Kroger’s effort to expand its private-label beverage lineup and provide lower-priced options while improving margins, company executives have highlighted. Kroger declined to disclose production partners or specific pricing, saying only that the cola will be stocked alongside national-brand sodas on store shelves.
The rollout covers thousands of stores across the states where Kroger operates, including multiple supermarket banners under the company’s corporate umbrella. Kroger’s distribution network and online ordering channels will handle fulfillment for the exclusive product.
Packaging details, flavor variants and promotional plans were not included in the initial announcement. The retailer did not identify co-packers or bottlers and did not specify whether the cola will be tied to loyalty-program discounts or digital coupons.
Industry analysts say retailers typically price private-label colas below comparable national brands and use in-store displays and digital offers to encourage trial. Such launches can prompt competitive pricing and merchandising responses from national beverage makers.
Kroger did not respond to a request for comment on manufacturing arrangements or long-term plans for the brand. A Coca-Cola representative was not available for comment at the time of publication.
