Google Cloud, Solana Foundation offer usage billing for AI agents
Google Cloud and the Solana Foundation introduced pay-as-you-go billing that charges developers only for compute and services their autonomous AI agents use.
Google Cloud and the Solana Foundation launched a pay-as-you-go billing system for autonomous AI agents that bills developers and organizations only for the compute and services an agent consumes while running.
The offering combines Google Cloud’s metering and billing infrastructure with Solana Foundation tools that track agent activity and record usage. Usage is metered at the level of agent operations, including compute time, API calls and data transfer. Developers can attach deployments to existing Google Cloud billing accounts and set usage-based pricing for specific agents or projects.
Components from the Solana Foundation provide on-chain recordkeeping and payment settlement options that operate alongside Google Cloud account billing. Applications that use Solana wallets or tokens can map on-chain transactions to cloud charges for reconciliation.
The integration supports deployments that run entirely on Google Cloud and hybrid setups where parts of an agent’s stack interact with Solana-based services. Built-in instrumentation collects usage metrics and converts them into billing entries that appear on Google Cloud invoices.
Additional features include per-agent reporting to identify which agents generate the most consumption, controls to set usage limits and alerts, and APIs for marketplaces or third-party platforms to display pricing to end users.
The pay-as-you-go option is available to developers and organizations using Google Cloud and compatible Solana Foundation tooling. Documentation and setup guides are provided through each organization’s developer channels.
