Falcon Finance selects Anchorage to issue fUSD
Falcon Finance selected Anchorage to issue fUSD, a GENIUS-compliant stablecoin for payments, with Anchorage acting as the regulated issuer and custodian.
Falcon Finance has engaged Anchorage to issue fUSD, a stablecoin it describes as GENIUS-compliant and designed for merchant and consumer payments. Anchorage will serve as the regulated issuer and custodian for the token and support its use in payments and transactions.
Under the agreement, Anchorage will provide issuance and custody services on behalf of Falcon Finance. Anchorage will mint fUSD tokens, hold them in secure custody and manage related on-chain processes, while Falcon Finance will handle distribution and integration with its payments network.
Falcon Finance describes fUSD as intended for merchant and consumer payments and said issuance through a regulated provider is intended to support operational and compliance needs for its partners and clients. The companies plan to make fUSD available to participants in Falcon’s payments ecosystem; exact timing and initial rollout markets were not disclosed.
The companies did not release details on how fUSD will be backed, the token’s redemption mechanisms, or the blockchains it will use. Anchorage’s services commonly include custody of reserves, administration of issuance and redemptions, and support for auditing and regulatory reporting, functions expected to apply under this arrangement.
Payments-focused stablecoins frequently rely on regulated intermediaries for issuance and custody to provide legal recourse and operational controls for counterparties. Falcon Finance’s plan to work with a licensed custodian aligns with a broader industry pattern of payments firms partnering with licensed custodians and banks to manage on- and off-ramps, liquidity and compliance oversight.
