Bitdeer hits 70 EH/s in self-mining, claims top global hash rate

Bitdeer reports its self-mining fleet reached 70 exahashes per second, claiming the largest single-operator on-chain bitcoin hash rate.

Bitdeer reported that its self-mining operations reached 70 exahashes per second (EH/s), and the company asserted this places it as the largest single operator by on-chain bitcoin hashing power.

The company attributed the increase to expansion and consolidation of mining hardware it owns and controls, rather than operating solely as a hosting or cloud-mining provider.

An exahash equals 1 quintillion (10^18) hashes per second. At 70 EH/s, Bitdeer’s fleet can perform about 70 quintillion SHA-256 hash attempts every second. SHA-256 is the cryptographic function miners compute to compete for new bitcoin blocks.

Higher hash rate increases an operator’s proportional chance of finding the next block and receiving the block reward plus transaction fees. The 70 EH/s figure represents combined raw computing throughput of the company’s self-mining rigs.

Bitdeer did not provide a facility-level breakdown, the specific models or counts of machines contributing to the total, or the date the threshold was reached. The company also did not disclose how much of its overall revenue or capacity the self-mining segment represents compared with hosting and managed services.

Rankings by self-mining capacity can change quickly as operators deploy or retire hardware, as local power availability shifts, and as the total bitcoin network hash rate moves.

Running and expanding an owned mining fleet requires capital investment in hardware and infrastructure and access to steady power and connectivity. Equipment efficiency, electricity costs and the market price of bitcoin affect the economics of those operations.

Bitcoin miners use specialized hardware to run repeated hash computations; when a miner finds a hash that meets the network target, it earns the right to append a block to the blockchain and collect the associated reward.
