AWS, Coinbase and Stripe Enable USDC Payments for AI Agents
AWS partnered with Coinbase and Stripe to let AI agents on its cloud accept, send and convert USD Coin (USDC) for payments, settlement and fiat on- and off-ramps.
Amazon Web Services announced a partnership with Coinbase and Stripe to enable USD Coin (USDC) payments for AI agents running on its cloud platform. The integration connects AWS’s developer tools for autonomous agents with Coinbase’s custody and on-chain transfer systems and Stripe’s fiat on‑ and off‑ramp services.
Under the agreement, AI agents hosted on AWS can accept USDC from users, pay other services or vendors in USDC, and convert between crypto and fiat as needed. Coinbase will provide custody, on‑chain transfer and settlement infrastructure for USDC. Stripe will provide conversions between crypto and bank rails, card processing and merchant payment flows.
The offering is available through AWS’s existing cloud services and developer tools so teams can add payments without building separate crypto or payments systems. Developers will be able to route on‑chain transfers through Coinbase, settle transactions in USDC and use Stripe to move funds into and out of bank accounts and crypto wallets. AWS described the setup as able to handle charges, payouts and currency conversion for agent-driven transactions.
Suggested uses include agents that sell digital goods or services, manage subscription billing, distribute micro‑payments to human collaborators or other software agents, and automatically pay for third‑party APIs and cloud resources. Using a dollar‑pegged stablecoin like USDC keeps settlement in a common value unit while allowing on‑chain functions such as fast transfers and programmable payments.
USDC is issued by Circle and is widely used across multiple blockchain networks. Coinbase operates custody and exchange services that support USDC on several chains. Stripe has developed crypto-related products and payment rails that connect card and bank systems to digital assets.
The companies said they will work together to meet applicable financial and regulatory requirements and will provide documentation, software development kits and support for developers integrating payments into agent workflows. The collaboration adds payment tooling to AWS’s cloud environment for organizations experimenting with monetized agent behaviors without maintaining separate crypto and fiat systems.
