Ark Sells Single Stock Across Multiple ETFs, Trims Stakes
Ark Investment Management sold repeated stakes in one stock and trimmed positions across several ETFs, filings show.
Ark Investment Management sold repeated stakes in a single, unnamed stock and trimmed positions across several of its actively managed exchange-traded funds, filings and the firm’s trade reports show. The reductions affected ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK), ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW), ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (ARKG), ARK Autonomous Technology & Robotics ETF (ARKQ) and ARK Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF). Filings were made public this week.
The records show repeated sales of the same equity across multiple funds rather than a complete exit from every fund. Ark’s daily trade reports list individual transactions, while its quarterly reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission provide end-of-period share counts that reflected the smaller positions at quarter end.
The filings also show modest trims to other holdings across the ETFs. Ark’s disclosures did not include commentary from portfolio managers explaining the rationale for the sales.
Ark is led by Chief Executive and Chief Investment Officer Cathie Wood and manages ETFs that focus on themes the firm describes as disruptive innovation. The funds are known for holding concentrated positions and for publishing frequent trading information.
Because Ark assigns the same equity to multiple ETFs, an adjustment to a stock can appear as coordinated reductions or additions across funds. The most recent filings indicate a coordinated reduction in exposure to the single stock across Ark’s ETFs, along with smaller trims in other positions.
Ark has reported periodic trading changes in recent quarters. Its public trade reports and SEC filings provide data market participants use to track which funds held the altered positions and how those positions changed over time.
