Anchorage Digital Adds Lido Support for Institutional wstETH
Anchorage Digital added Lido support so institutional clients can mint and burn wrapped staked ETH (wstETH) via the Lido dApp while keeping Anchorage custody and governance controls.
Anchorage Digital, a federally regulated crypto custodian, announced Thursday it has integrated Lido, allowing institutional clients to access the wrapped staked ETH token wstETH through Anchorage’s platform. Clients can connect to the Lido decentralized application to mint and burn wstETH while Anchorage retains custody and governance controls.
Through the integration, institutional customers will be able to stake ETH via Lido and receive wstETH in return. Once minted, the token can be transferred into trading, lending or other decentralized finance applications while remaining under Anchorage’s custody and governance framework.
Liquid staking lets holders earn ETH staking rewards without running validator infrastructure or locking funds directly. Lido issues tokens that represent staked ETH; wstETH is a wrapped version that remains transferable and can be used as collateral while rewards continue to accrue to the underlying stake.
Nathan McCauley, Anchorage’s co-founder and CEO, commented that liquid staking has become an important building block for institutional participation in Ethereum and that the Lido integration gives institutions access to wstETH without the operational or security tradeoffs that previously deterred large allocators.
Lido reported that revenues fell by more than 20% in 2025, citing user withdrawals and lower staking yields that reduced fee income tied to protocol stake.
Kean Gilbert, head of institutional relations at the Lido Ecosystem Foundation, noted the integration brings wstETH onto an important U.S. institutional platform and strengthens the role of stETH and the Lido protocol in institutional Ethereum staking.
Anchorage’s offer combines Lido’s liquid staking tokens with the custody and governance controls used by regulated financial clients. The company said clients will be able to mint and burn wstETH via the Lido dApp connection while continuing to rely on Anchorage’s operational and security controls.
