Humanity Protocol breach nets $32M; H token drops 89%

Onchain analyst Specter reported wallets linked to Humanity Protocol were exploited for about $32 million after a Humanity Foundation member’s private keys were compromised; H token fell 89%.
Onchain analyst Specter flagged the exploit on Monday, reporting that 17 wallets holding the protocol's native H token were drained. Initial losses were estimated at about $5 million; Specter later updated the total to roughly $32 million.
Onchain tracing shows about $23.7 million of the stolen funds was swapped into Ethereum. Approximately $7.9 million remained in H tokens at the time of the update.
Terence Kwok, founder of Humanity, confirmed the breach on X and attributed it to the compromise of private keys belonging to a member of the Humanity Foundation. Kwok wrote, “We're already working with security experts and our exchange partners on resolution,” and added, “We're deeply sorry — protecting this community is our responsibility, and we'll keep you updated every step of the way.”

Specter observed that the transaction pattern suggested affected wallets shared a common exposure related to Humanity Protocol.
The incident occurred on-chain and was identified through transaction monitoring and wallet activity tied to the protocol. Exchanges and security teams were notified as tracing began.
The H token fell about 89% over 24 hours following reports of the exploit.
Humanity Protocol runs decentralized identity verification using biometric checks and zero-knowledge proofs to let users prove they are human without revealing personal data. H is the protocol's native token.
Security experts engaged by the project and exchange partners are tracing the stolen assets and working on remediation. The team has not published a full technical postmortem or a recovery timeline. The investigation is ongoing.
